ART POETICA
Welcome to Art Poetica, a creative space for young and emerging writers beginning creative careers. The program provides a place to explore writing in its many forms—from poetry and short stories to screenwriting, plays, essays, and other forms of creative expression.
Writing offers a powerful way to explore ideas, express perspectives, tell stories, and give voice to thoughts, experiences, and imagination. Through the writing process, participants develop their individual voices while learning how words, stories, and creative ideas can connect with audiences and communities.
Art Poetica provides opportunities to develop creative writing skills, explore different forms and styles of writing, exchange ideas with other writers, and learn from experienced instructors and working writers. The program supports writers at different stages, from those discovering their interest in writing to those beginning to develop their work and careers.
The program also introduces the professional side of writing, including editing, revision, presentation, design, publishing, and other aspects of bringing written work to an audience. Participants gain an understanding of how a piece develops from an initial idea or rough draft into a finished work.
